Options for mattress recycling:

Steps for Saturday Drop off at the City Yard: Starting April 6th 

1) WEEKDAY PRE-PAYMENT REQUIRED (advance payment required*) Mattresses and box springs will be accepted with a $40.00 weekday pre-payment. You may pay ahead online with credit/debit card by visiting https://epay.cityhallsystems.com/ or in person at the city yard with cash or check.

  • **IMPORTANT** Online payments for mattresses made after 3:00 pm on Fridays or any time on Saturdays will be deferred to the next Saturday for drop off.  

2) Drop-off at the City Yard on Saturdays, 8:00 am – 3:00 pm.

  • Mattresses must be dropped off in a plastic mattress bag 

  • Mattresses will not be accepted without proof of weekday pre-payment

  • Electronic or printed online payment receipt or copy of emailed work order must be shown upon arrival for drop-off.

  • No payment will be accepted at the City Yard on Saturdays. 

3) Rest easy, your mattress is being recycled!

 

Steps for Curbside Pickup:

You must schedule curbside pickup directly through Tough Stuff Recycling by visiting their scheduling portal here: https://order.toughstuffrecycling.com/. 

 

What is accepted as part of the Mattress Recycling Program?

  • In order to eligible for curbside collection or city yard drop-off, a mattress must be:
    • Mattress must be placed in a mattress bag to protect it from the elements and ensure safe handling for the onsite/collection team accepting the mattress and or box spring.
    • Only mattresses and box springs are allowed.
    • Free of bed bugs or other insects/vermin
    • Not heavily soiled
    • Dry – Lightly damp is acceptable
    • Free of human bodily fluids
    • Removed from any solid waste, trash, debris or other refuse
    • For curbside only -- placed at the curbside, not at the front door or in the front yard.

What is NOT included in the recycling program?

  • Futons
  • Mattress toppers/pads
  • Bed frames
  • Pet beds
  • Air or water beds
  • Pillows or other bedding

What if I am not able to get to the City Yard or City Hall during the week to make advanced payment? 

Payment may be made at the City Yard during one of the following Special Saturday Events: 9/16 (Motor Oil/Antifreeze/Gas), 10/14 (Rigid Plastics), or 11/4 (Pumpkin Composting). Mattresses and other City Yard recycling items will NOT be accepted on Saturday, 10/21 (Household Hazardous Waste Day), only Household Hazardous Waste is accepted that day.
