Police Honor Guard Goes to UNH to Honor Coach Umile

The Melrose Police Honor Guard were invited by the University of New Hampshire to participate in the national anthem on Friday February 9, 2018. This particular weekend honored retiring Coach Richard Umile at the end of this season. Coach Umile is a Melrose native and still has several extended family members living in the Melrose Community.

Richard Umile’s father, James Umile, Sr., was a Detective for the Melrose Police Department for many years before retiring in the early 1980s.

The members of the Melrose Police Honor Guard in attendance Friday night were: Sergeant Joshua Crowley, Patrolman Stephen Galvin, Patrolman Michael Plumer, and Patrolman William Higgins.
