An important part of the World Projects performance tours is having a performance - of course! We always aim to collaborate with local ensembles as a way of opening up the students to new experiences and forming friendships with musicians from across the country (and around the world). When we started working on the itinerary, we immediately thought that a local Boston area ensemble would be a great fit - a west coast to east coast musical experience! Although many ensembles are out of session by mid June or have final exams, Paul Surapine and the Claflin Hill Youth Symphony Orchestra found it as an excellent educational and musical opportunity for his ensemble. We are very glad they are on board!

NVYS Bio
The Napa Valley Youth Symphony (NVYS) provides young musicians from diverse backgrounds exciting opportunities for personal and artistic growth through challenging and inspiring rehearsal and performances in a professional environment, while enhancing our community educationally and artistically.

Established in 2002 NVYS has earned numerous accolades, including recognition of achievement by United States Congressman Mike Thompson and invitations to perform at Carnegie Hall in both 2008 and 2014.

In addition to the Carnegie Hall tour performances, in 2010 the NVYS won top honors at the Los Angeles International Music Festival, performing at the Walt Disney Concert Hall and in 2012 attended the International Mahler Festival in Central Europe. In 2016, NVYS toured Ireland and the United Kingdom performing in St. Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin and St. John's Smiths Square in London.

NVYS is home to two orchestras – its premiere symphonic group and a training orchestra for younger members – as well as two chamber ensembles, engaging a total of 80 accomplished young musicians from 8 to 18 years in classical music, and crossing over to the world of rock-n-roll with an annual appearance at the region’s premier pop music festival BottleRock Napa Valley.

NVYS is pleased to call the beautiful Napa Valley, California wine region home.
