Today’s weekly report of DPH data about COVID-19 cases in cities and towns continues to be encouraging for Melrose. We are holding steady at 242 positive cases. Folks should understand that data for these tables are based on information available in the DPH surveillance database at a single point in time. Case counts for specific cities and towns change throughout the day as data updates such as removal of duplicate reports within the system occur. Continued progress relies on testing, contact tracing, and maintaining good public health practices including social distancing and wearing face coverings. Keep up the good work.

Recognizing the impact of the coronavirus on mental health, the Baker-Polito Administration has announced MassSupport, a new crisis counseling program to support the behavioral health needs of Massachusetts residents during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The program will be provided by Riverside Trauma Center. Riverside will deploy its trauma response and crisis intervention expertise in a statewide initiative to bring behavioral health resources, information, and referrals directly to individuals and communities. The program will offer counseling services in English and Spanish and can be reached at 888-215-4920 or via email at masssupport@riversidecc.org. This important program supplements the Interface behavioral health referral service that the city has provided to Melrose residents for several years. Please reach out if you or a loved one are in need of support.

Finally, the GLBT Historical Society has created an online version of the 50 Years of Pride exhibition featuring nearly 100 photographs spanning five decades of Pride celebrations. You can find the exhibit at glbthistory.org/

Also, the Melrose Human Rights Commission in partnership with the Foundation Trust will be hosting a Car Parade in honor of Pride on Saturday at 2pm. If you'd like to join in, meet at the Memorial Hall parking lot beginning at 1:45pm. Car decorations are also welcome and encouraged. We hope to see you there!

Thanks again for all you are doing to keep the community safe. Together, we will get through this!
