Storm Update: March 3, 2018

Good morning!

We still have approximately 1,100 houses in Melrose without power this morning after yesterday's serious storm. National Grid is aware of the situation and its contracted crews are working in the City. We will pass along restoration times as they become available .

The majority of these outages are from Main Street (Wyoming to Sylvan ) and cross streets in between. We also have additional outages along Lebanon Street and Forest Street, and portions of Ward 3 such as Whittier, Baxter,  and Cutter Streets. Please use caution driving as these outages have impacted traffic signals along Main Street from Wyoming to Banks Place.

You can monitor progress by contacting National Grid at 1-800-322-3223, or go to their website at www.nationalgrid.com and access your issue by entering your address or account number. Note that National Grid is managing issues throughout the Commonwealth including some communities with 100% outages. They ask for your patience as they continue to resolve our issues.

Melrose Public Works is also continuing to clean up after yesterday's Nor'easter. We did have a significant amount of branches and trees go down citywide. Crews are working throughout today clearing debris and will continue the clean-up effort next week. Note that the DPW Recycling drop off facility will be open from Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for those that may want to drop off branches and brush two (2”) in diameter or less.

Please contact the Melrose Police or Fire Departments with any emergency issue you may have. If you have any lingering problems regarding streets, trees, or other storm issues, please call the DPW Offices on Monday morning at 781-665-0142.

Please call 911 for any storm-related emergencies.
