Stoneham Water Quality Issue Does Not Affect Melrose

The Melrose Department of Public Works has been notified that the Town of Stoneham is dealing with an E-coli issue with their water. Stoneham is a closed system. They are supplied water from the MWRA separately from our Melrose connections. Once water enters Stoneham, it does not come into Melrose.

 

There is NOT an issue in Melrose. We test for water quality on a weekly basis. Our Monday samples were clean and met all obligations. Once MWRA water enters Melrose, it stays in Melrose, hence there is no reason for cross contamination with Stoneham.
