The Melrose community is invited to two upcoming “Show Your Pride” events, hosted by Mayor Brodeur and the Melrose Human Rights Commission, to celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride Month, which officially began today, June 1.

On Wednesday, June 8 at 6:30 p.m., join Mayor Brodeur at City Hall (Essex Street entrance) as the Commission and the City raise the Pride Flag in honor of our commitment to Melrose as “One Community, Open to All” and in recognition of the importance of supporting and celebrating all Melrosians.

On Friday, June 10 from 5 - 7:30 p.m., bring the entire family to a fun, interactive event at the Beebe Estate lawn. Enjoy food, music, face-painting, art activities, and more! Find more details at www.facebook.com/MelroseHRC and www.cityofmelrose.org/

“As we continue to deal with many troubling issues both nationally and globally, the Melrose Human Rights Commission is excited to host the upcoming Pride events this month and to continue our annual Pride celebrations in an effort to promote inclusivity and strengthen community ties,” said Mike Stankavish, Chair, Melrose Human Rights Commission.

The Melrose Human Rights Commission, established in 1992, offers events, advocacy and programming in support of human and civil rights, with the goal of reinforcing a positive atmosphere in the community.

“I’m excited to continue our Pride traditions alongside the Human Rights Commission, our LGBTQ+ partners, leaders, advocates and allies,” said Mayor Paul Brodeur. “By taking this time to celebrate and recognize the wonderfully diverse and resilient members of our community, we join our LGBTQ+ as allies in the fight against discrimination --- and for equality for all. I’m grateful to the Melrose Human Rights Commission for their efforts to support Melrose’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion of all people.”
