Register to Vote in Mayoral Preliminary Election by August 28

The deadline to register to vote in the Preliminary Election for Mayor is Wednesday, August 28, at 8 p.m. The Elections Office will remain open until 8 p.m. that day.

To register online, check whether you are registered, or find your polling place, go to the Secretary of State’s voter resources page.

The Preliminary Election will be held on September 17. It is not a primary. All five candidates for Mayor will be on a single ballot, voters will choose a single candidate, and the two candidates receiving the most votes will proceed to the city-wide election on November 5.

If you are unable to make it to the polls between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Election Day, you may apply for an absentee ballot by submitting an application to the Election Office by noon on September 16. Application can be found in the Election Office or online: www.cityofmelrose.org/elections/pages/absentee-ballots .
