Memorial Hall Building Envelope Improvements Project Underway

Memorial Hall

Mayor Paul Brodeur has announced the Memorial Hall Building Envelope Improvements Project is underway as of September 2022 with construction expected to continue through September 2023.

During the improvement project, the historical building will see its existing windows, roof, and North Lobby doors replaced or refurbished, and undergo repairs to its exterior masonry, windows, as well as some minor structural repairs.

“I thank the community for their patience as we take care of an important historical treasure in Melrose,” said Mayor Paul Brodeur. “This building not only provides the City with a commemorative monument to the patriotism of service men and women from Melrose who died for their country, it’s also a cultural center for our community. As a long-time Melrose resident, and now Mayor of this wonderful City, I’m happy to see the exterior of this community gem restored for future generations to come.”

“We, myself and the Board of Trustees, greatly appreciate the city of Melrose for their support of this historical building, which means so much to all of us and is a focal point of our wonderful city,” said Mary Sexton, Chair of the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Building Board of Trustees. “I look forward to the completion of the project, and rejoicing in the beauty of the building to its previous glory.”

As the project will include mostly exterior work, East Coast Masonry & Restoration will schedule the construction around the Memorial Hall event schedule as to minimize disruptions.

During construction, updates on the progress of the project will be posted weekly on the Memorial Hall webpage located on the City of Melrose website, www.melrosememorialhall.com.
