Melrose Police Department Reminds Solicitors Not to go Door-to-Door as Pandemic Emergency Remains Ongoing

MELROSE-- The Melrose Police Department wishes to remind solicitors that they should not be going door-to-door in town given the ongoing state of emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Saturday, April 24, the Melrose Police Department received several reports from residents about individuals from a solar company riding on scooters maskless and photographing residents' homes. Police were able to locate the individuals and procure their information.

"While conditions are improving, it's important to remember that we are still in a state of emergency as a result of COVID-19 and no individuals should be going door-to-door," Police Chief Lyle said. "We encourage all residents to contact the Melrose Police Department if canvassers approach their homes."

The Melrose Police Department would like to provide residents with tips and guidance for reporting solicitors:

  • At this time no individuals should be going door-to-door as a result of the pandemic.
  • If a solicitor approaches your door, contact the Melrose Police Department at 781-665-1212.
