Melrose Community Members Need Your Help: Sign up to be a Snow Angel Volunteer!

The Melrose Council on Aging’s Snow Angel volunteer program, which matches Melrose community members in need of snow removal support with a high school student or adult volunteer, needs your help to fill 17 open volunteer positions.

It’s important to learn about the program; exactly what it is, why it matters, and why we need your help right now.

  • A Snow Angel is a volunteer who “adopts” an older adult (or an adult with a disability) for the winter season and shovels them out when it snows. Volunteers are matched with neighbors in need who live nearby.
  • Older adults and adults with disabilities may often be socially isolated, especially during the winter months. When they receive snow removal help from volunteers, they can safely leave their homes when it snows (to see friends and family, go to the food store, and participate in social services).
  • The current demand for Snow Angels is greater than the available students. That’s why Melrose is looking to you - the community - for volunteers.

To volunteer for the Snow Angel program, please call Rachael Cordella at the Melrose Council on Aging at (781) 665-4304.
