Mayor Brodeur to Host Public Forum with MBTA Regarding Service Cuts

MBTA Cuts

MELROSE, MA—Mayor Paul Brodeur has organized a public meeting in collaboration with the MBTA to address questions and concerns regarding upcoming service changes.

Melrose residents will have the opportunity to hear about these changes from the MBTA and ask questions in a public meeting on Wednesday, March 10 at 7 PM.

While the MBTA’s initial service reduction plan has changed significantly due to public advocacy, the current plan will still result in reduced services to Melrose. These changes set to take place on March 14 include:

  • Bus route 136: Replaced by a modified Route 137.
  • Bus route 137: Serves Oak Grove between 7-9 AM and 4-6:30 PM on weekdays, running in a one-way loop around Lake Quannapowitt. Serves Malden Center at all other times.
  • No weekend service on Haverhill Commuter Rail Line which will stop at Wyoming Hill, Cedar Park, and Melrose Highlands.
  • 20% frequency reduction to Orange Line service.

To ask questions ahead of the meeting, residents may fill out this form. To register for the meeting, please click here.
