It's Official: Melrose Has a City Council

On October 1, 2019, the revisions to the Melrose City Charter, which included changing the name of the Board of Aldermen to City Council, were signed by Governor Baker and became effective immediately. Candidates for the November election are officially running for the office of city councilor rather than alderman.
The process of modifying all city documentation to reflect this new name will begin immediately.
