Honoring Our Wounded and Fallen on Purple Heart Day

Purple Heart Day is observed on August 7 each year and is a time for Americans to pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who were either wounded on the battlefield or paid the ultimate sacrifice with their lives. Purple Heart Day is also known as National Purple Heart Day, Purple Heart Recognition Day and Purple Heart Appreciation Day.

Purple Heart Day will be observed on Friday, August 7, 2020.  In commemoration of National Purple Heart Day, Melrose will join other communities in Massachusetts by illuminating Memorial Hall with a purple light to honor our Purple Heart Veterans.  Illumination will begin tonight, August 5th and remain illuminated purple for one week.

Please take time to think of our Purple Heart Veterans and their families on this National Day of Remembrance.
