Happening Tonight: Melrose Pride Flag-Raising Ceremony

The Melrose Human Rights Commission (MHRC), in partnership with the City of Melrose and the Office of Mayor Paul Brodeur, is proud to announce that the City’s Sixth Annual LGBTQ+ Pride Month Celebrations will kick off at City Hall tonight with the City's Pride Flag-Raising Ceremony at 6:30 p.m. The celebrations will continue with the annual Pride Celebration at the Beebe Estate on Friday, June 9, at 5 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public. ALL are invited to attend.

June 1 Pride Flag-Raising Ceremony (Tonight!)

The community is invited to attend tonight’s Pride Flag-Raising Ceremony featuring remarks from Mayor Paul Brodeur, MHRC Commissioner Randall Carter, elected officials, and keynote speaker, Executive Director for SpeakOUT Boston Ellyn Ruthstrum, as well as an official Pride Month proclamation, plus the raising of the Pride Flag by local residents in honor of Pride Month and in celebration of Melrose as “One Community, Open to All.”

June 9 Pride Celebration at the Beebe Estate

Join the MHRC, Mayor Paul Brodeur, local speakers, youth artists, and elected officials at the Beebe Estate next Friday, June 9, at 5 p.m. to celebrate Melrose Pride with music from Girl Skull and MC Samantha Em. This is a catered, family-friendly event featuring face painting, sand art activities, and more.

The mission of the MRHC’s 2023 Pride Events is to celebrate the voices and perspectives of the LBGTQ+ community in Melrose, raise awareness of barriers faced by the LGBTQ+ community, and bring the people of Melrose together to promote inclusivity, education, and advocacy for equal rights for all people under the law.
