Green Rising

The public is invited to join Melrose Artist Lisa Tiemann this Saturday, June 25th at Bowden Park to celebrate the installation of the Green Man Community Mosaic Mural. This outdoor event, which takes place from 3:00pm – 6:00pm, will honor the 35 artists who contributed to the mural.

Tiemann, who spearheaded this community mural as part of the Melrose Makes Initiative, worked with 35 local artists from Melrose and the surrounding area to create a mosaic that celebrates our connections to the natural world. The 5-foot by 5-foot mosaic is made up of 57 individual panels and features the mythical Green Man. The mosaic itself is a donation from the artists, while the wall and installation were made possible through grants and private donors.

Residents are encouraged to stop by the event this Saturday, or at any time throughout the year as it is a permanent structure. Attendees are encouraged to walk, bike or carpool to the event if possible. In case of rain, the event will be held on Sunday, June 26th. The event is made possible by the Melrose Cultural Council, Rotary Club, and Messina Fund for the Arts.
