MELROSE, MA—Thanks to the Teachable Moments Grant awarded by Mystic Valley Elder Services, the Melrose Council on Aging Milano Center is proud to offer a free copy of The Agitator and the Politician: William Lloyd Garrison, Abraham Lincoln and the Emancipation of the Slaves by Robert MacDougall, while supplies last.

“I am proud to support this event and the continued learning of our local seniors,” said Mayor Paul Brodeur. “Social and educational opportunities such as this one are more important now than ever.”

In addition to distributing free copies of the book, the Milano Center is also hosting a virtual book discussion on April 13, 2021 at 1 PM. (See below for meeting details.)

“The Melrose Council on Aging acknowledges the difficult and chaotic times and turmoil around social injustices in our society,” said Council on Aging Executive Director, Stacey Minchello. “We are committed to actively participating in the lifelong learning process for our elders and everyone else in our community.”

Any senior interested in reserving a free copy of this book should call the Milano Center at 781-662-6886. Books will be distributed on a first-come-first-served basis.
