The Foundation Trust Sponsors Free Corned Beef Dinners for Melrose Seniors

Free Corned Beef Dinner for Milano Center Seniors

MELROSE, MA—The Melrose Council on Aging will offer a Saint Patrick’s Day drive-thru corned beef dinner on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 to residents aged 60+ thanks to a grant from the Foundation Trust.

“I’m very grateful to Stacey Minchello at the Milano Center and the Foundation Trust for making sure that this tradition continues even through COVID,” said Mayor Paul Brodeur. “We know everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day regardless of how you feel about a boiled dinner. I’m just glad our seniors get to have some fun with this this year.”

The Foundation Trust will sponsor up to 100 meals for Milano Center members. Melrose residents may sign up for their corned beef dinner on Monday, March 1, 2021, and non-residents may reserve their meals beginning on March 8.

“We’re so grateful to the Foundation Trust for supporting this event,” said Council on Aging Executive Director, Stacey Minchello. “This year has been especially tough on our seniors, and it’s really nice to be able to help them celebrate, even if our gatherings look a little different.”

“The Melrose Council on Aging has worked tirelessly for our community’s seniors throughout the last tumultuous year, commented Foundation Trust Manager Lauren Liecau. “It is our pleasure to support this event and give people a taste of spring.”

This drive-thru event will be held from 11 AM – 12 PM at the Milano Center, 201 W Foster St. All participants are asked to wear a mask and remain in their vehicles.

To reserve a corned beef dinner, interested individuals should call the Milano Center at 781-662-6886.
