About the DEI Focus Groups:

A few weeks ago, the City of Melrose opened up registration for its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) virtual focus groups to all Melrose residents. The City has since decided to move the dates of many of these focus groups. These groups, which were scheduled to take place in January, are now taking place in the first week of February. It’s important that you participate and help Melrose learn, grow, and be better everyday, for everyone.

There are important things to know about Melroses’ focus groups & DEI assessment process:

  • Please note! We changed the dates for many of the focus groups. The focus groups linked here will now take place in early February, instead of January.
  • These focus groups are the second phase of the City of Melroses’s DEI  assessment process and are run by VISIONS, Inc. (Melrose's DEI consulting firm).
  • VISION’S Inc. recently added a Multiracial Focus Group, taking place on 2/1/2022 at 6:00p.m.
  • Your voice matters and your feedback will remain confidential; the focus groups provide residents the opportunity to anonymously share opinions and ideas.

After you sign-up for a focus group, it’s important to keep a few things in mind:

  • The focus groups, which are virtual and take place on Zoom,  have a limited number of slots and will take 50 minutes to complete.
  • An individual can only register for one group. The City encourages residents to register as soon as possible.
  • VISIONS Inc. will send out a confirmation email to those who register.

Other Ways to Participate in Melroses’ DEI Assessment Process include:

The DEI assessment process is designed to collect information about the racial climate in Melrose, including strengths, challenges and desired outcomes as well as to provide a chance for participants to share their experiences, interpersonally, institutionally and culturally in and around these critical matters.

Should you have any questions about the DEI Assessment process or need help signing up for a focus group, please email Lily Wall, the City’s Communications and Community Outreach Coordinator, at lwall@cityofmelrose.org.
