This is Mayor Brodeur.

The weekly DPH COVID-19 number have been released and Melrose stands at 290 positive cases as of 4 p.m. on Wednesday. This represents an increase of 3 over last week’s report. Melrosians have received 7,990 tests, an increase of 680 over last week’s numbers.

If you have requested a mail-in ballot, that’s great. They started arriving in mailboxes in Melrose today. In fact, I got mine today. The process couldn’t be easier and safer. Here’s my ballot. I am filling it out at my kitchen table.

Now that I am done, I place it in the yellow envelope that came as part of the mailing. Please make sure you complete all the information on the envelope. Insert your completed ballot into the envelope and seal it.

All you need to do now is return your ballot. Place it in the white return envelope provided and seal it. You can return your ballot by mail by dropping it in a mailbox (postage is already paid – no stamp required!), drop it off in person at City Hall or return it the secured drop box in between City Hall and the post office.

Congratulations! You have voted!

Remember there is still time to request a mail-in ballot, and you can also vote early in-person at Memorial Hall or on September 1 at our single polling place at the Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School. This year, you have many options for casting your vote safely and securely. No matter which one you choose, please make a plan to exercise this important right.

If you have any questions, please call the Melrose Elections Office at 781-979-4125, visit their website, or follow them on social media.
