Support the Melrose Emergency Fund

Residents are asked to help local families

Mayor Rob Dolan is once again appealing to the people of Melrose to contribute to the Melrose Emergency Fund.

The purpose of the fund is to provide one-time help to Melrose residents experiencing financial emergencies. “Our goal is to provide help with immediate needs, so the family can resolve the crisis and move on,” said Dolan. Most of the help the fund provides is basic needs—food, fuel, and utilities. “My goal is that no one in Melrose will go cold or hungry,” Dolan said.

Over the past year, the fund has helped over 80 local families in a variety of situations. The mayor’s office staff administers the fund, so every penny of every donation goes directly to aid, with no administrative costs, and the fund administrator makes referrals to other local agencies if needed.

To make a donation, either bring a check directly to the Mayor’s Office on the second floor of City Hall or send a check to:
Melrose Emergency Fund
Mayor’s Office
562 Main St.
Melrose, MA 02176

Checks should be made out to the City of Melrose, with “Melrose Emergency Fund” in the memo line.
