Schools

Education is vitally important to our community, and Melrose offers a superb school system.

There are five neighborhood elementary schools in convenient locations around the city including the Roosevelt, Lincoln, Winthrop, Hoover, and Horace Mann. St. Mary’s is Melrose’s private parochial school that teaches grades 1-8. In addition to these elementary schools, the Franklin School is home to exceptional early childhood programs. Each school has well-equipped classrooms with computer access, as well as an active student council and Parent Teachers Organization (PTO).

In addition to these excellent elementary schools, the North Suburban Family Network offers services of education and support to families with young children in the community.

A new state-of-the-art Melrose Veterans’ Memorial Middle School is adjacent to the recently renovated Melrose High School. The Veterans’ Memorial Middle School was awarded a Commonwealth of Massachusetts Compass School.

The High School music program is among the top 100 music programs in the country. The High School offers five foreign languages and numerous foreign exchange programs. Melrose High School’s curriculum also spans a wide variety of both academic and vocational subjects. The High School will open its brand new Science Labs in the fall of 2013.
