The seven member Council on Aging meets on the third Thursday of each month, excepting July & August, at 9:30 a.m. in the Milano Senior Center. The public is invited to attend. The Council on Aging consists of seven volunteers appointed by the City to meet the needs of residents, age 60 and over, and their families. It works to improve elders’ quality of life and to help them remain in their homes.

Some of the services administered by the Council’s professional staff include information and referral, free local transportation, outreach services, SHINE (health information) and Property Tax Work-Off, Teen-Aging programs, and Friendly Visiting programs.

The historic Milano Senior Center was built as a carriage house in 1897. Renovated and expanded, it reopened as the Milano Senior Center in 1995. Each month, approximately 750-900 senior citizens attend the many social, recreational, health and educational programs offered at the center. Some of the more than 25 regular programs include weekday lunches, Tai Chi and yoga classes, arts and crafts, board and card games, line dancing and aerobics classes, writing classes, and support groups.
