Recycle Your Batteries and Earn Points for Your School!

In order to make the school recycling competition a little more interesting, we will be collecting used batteries for recycling during the month of January. Battery Collection Containers will be located in a central location in your school.  At the end of January we will announce which school collected the most batteries.

We will accept regular household batteries only, sizes AAA through D. We cannot take rechargeable, laptop, or car batteries.

Household batteries contain heavy metals, so recycling them is the best way to dispose of them. The City Yard accepts batteries for recycling year round.

Due to the likelihood of inclement weather, we will not have monthly dropoff events during January, February, or March. We are hoping to have several alternative activities, such as battery recycling, to help keep things interesting and allow families and friends to support their schools.

Keep up the good work!

Are you having troubling storing your recyclables?  We have a solution!

We have stickers available free of charge in our Public Works Office (City Hall) and at the City Yard (Tremont St.) so that you can now label a barrel for recycling.  This will help you collect more and keep it dry and clean outside your house.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 781-979-4174.

As always, thanks for recycling!
