Water Flushing
Program
This project is a biannual event undertaken by the City of Melrose.
The intent of the flushing project is to clean out any sediment
that collects in water mains and to examine any areas which might be
experiencing poor water pressure. Over
the course of the summer and into the fall, every stretch of water main in
the city will be flushed by closing off certain valves in the city’s
water service system and allowing hydrants in that area to run for a
period of a few minutes. Feel free to contact Ann Waitt in the Public
Works Department at (781) 979-4177 if you have any questions.
The Public Works
Department’s 2009 Water Flushing and Hydrant Testing Program
began
the week of June 15th and will run through October.
