Fresh water depletion is a large environmental concern because we all need it to survive. Water resources are being depleted by overuse - excessive lawn watering, car washes, agricultural irrigation, industrial processes, and generating electricity. We all need to do our part to conserve water by reducing our daily usage.

Melrose has taken on the following water conservation projects:

 Annual discounted rain barrel purchase
Installation of second residential water meter for outdoor water usage
Distribution of low flow faucet aerators and shower heads
Installation of automatic faucets in municipal buildings
Biannual leak detection survey and repair program
 Biannual hydrant flushing program
