Melrose Property Tax Increases Modest Compared to Other Communities

The Boston Globe with the Massachusetts Municipal Association and Northeastern University did an expose on property tax increases in Massachusetts from 2002-2006. This report headlined in the Sunday paper (October 22, 2006) and Melrose faired well.

The average property tax increase in Massachusetts during that period was 32.3%. By comparison, the Melrose increase during that time was only 16.5%-- one of the 10 lowest increases in the state.
