Property Tax Increases Modest Compared to Other Communities
The Boston Globe with the Massachusetts Municipal Association
and Northeastern University did an expose on property tax increases in
Massachusetts from 2002-2006. This report headlined in the Sunday paper (October 22, 2006) and
Melrose
faired well.
The average property tax increase in Massachusetts
during that period was
32.3%. By comparison, the Melrose
increase during that
time was only 16.5%-- one of the 10 lowest increases in the state.
