About Melrose

Progress of Contest

Here in Melrose, recycling is a key component of our community.

This year we have decided to revitalize the pre-existing RECYCLING CONTEST, to help get students involved in their community as well as to improve the environment.

Elementary School!

Each elementary school has competed to see which school can recycle the most in order to win a prize and of course, improve the environment. The schools will be using a system of animal stickers to track the amount of material they have recycled. The school with the highest percentile increase will win the coveted “recycling cup”! It is important to instill positive recycling values in the youth, and this contest will surly help!

Middle School!

At the middle school, teams will participate in some friendly competition to see who can recycle the most! In addition to the contest we plan to start a middle school division of the ‘environmental club’ similar to that of the high school. The club will construct posters promoting recycling throughout the school and community. The members will also be responsible for setting up a recycling bin system in each classroom where they will retrieve all of the recycled material from time to time. The material will then be sorted and recycled.
